How to control your fear instead of letting it control you!
Fear- this is something that has really been trying to attack me through the last couple of months. It’s so easy to make fear something that is relevant and normal in our lives without even really realizing we are doing it.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to feel like I am disappointing someone. I can get so caught up in making sure that something is perfect, that I end up overlooking the bigger picture. Satan definitely tried to get into my mind and cause me to fear what was ahead. I was thinking about school, would it be weird when we go back, or will people have changed and moved on, I started going through all of the different scenarios in my mind that it really started to control me. I started thinking about what would happen if my friends had changed or I went back and everyone was different. The thing is, I didn’t even realize that I was making these things fears because of how much I was focusing on them.
One night I was sitting in bed and I was just feeling sad by what had been going on. Before I went to bed I was reading one of my devotionals. It touched on how big of an impact our own minds can make on our lives. And the thought came to me, fear comes from overthinking circumstances that I have no control over. The Bible says numerous times, to fear not because the Lord is always with us and guiding us. But the second that we start to fear, it is so easy to put that out of our minds. It is so easy for us to overthink things when we are nervous or scared, which is why it is so easy to make simple things fears of ours. We think about how tryouts for the new sports are going to go, what the next ten years of our lives are going to look like, or even what tomorrow will look like.
We are able to decide if we are going to let circumstances in life control us, or if we are going to control them, we get to decide to claim victory over things that we believe to be true because of Jesus instead of the things this world wants us to think true. When we say or think things over and over again our heart starts to believe it. So fill your heart with the promises of God.
Satan will try to manipulate you, and he very well may have already tried, but I want to encourage you to fight back. Whatever the fear is, focus on your mindset about the situation. instead of saying “I want things to go back to normal, I’m so tired of this”, flip your mind into thinking, “I’m grateful that my family and I are healthy and able to spend time together.” Something as simple as that can help us prevent fear and Satan from controlling our lives. The ultimate truth is, we don't know how this is going to end, only God does. So don’t fear and overthink circumstances that we have no control over, rejoice in the life that Jesus died for us to have!
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
So so good!!! 💕
