Words Pt. 1- Love

God has been putting words on my heart recently. At first I was confused because they were words that are common. I was like okay God, I know what these mean. But, He really challenged me to go further into what it could mean in our relationship. There are several words that He has put on my heart so this is the first part of a new series all about words!

I woke up a couple of nights ago with the word love on my mind. I said, “Yes God, I know You love me.” But, that’s not what He was trying to tell me. The next day when I was doing my quiet time, I came across Psalm 5:4-5 which says,   “You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.” Then I questioned God, how could you love the sinner if you hate sin?

He pushed me to go deeper into how this could show His love. When I think about God and I think of love, I think about His ultimate sacrifice. It makes sense that He hates sin because it is the opposite of who He is. Even though He hates sin, He sent His only son to die to wash it all away.

I saw a sermon that said that the trinity was together before the creation of the Earth. I thought this was really cool because I never really thought about that. They agreed that creating this world would be a good thing, but even more, that creating each of us would be a good thing.

God created this world knowing that sin would enter. He created this world knowing that we would be sinners. He created this world knowing that He would send His one and only son to die for the very thing He hates the most. He died so that He could tear the veil between the sinner and Himself, not because He hates the sinner, but because He loves the sinner.

This put love in a whole new perspective for me. It made me realize how much God loves us, that He would die for the very thing He hates the most. The good news about this verse is, that because God knew the plan from the start, He could love us from the beginning.
