God and Science pt. 4

Here is another beautiful aspect of creation that will really help to tie everything in this series together. There is a dark hole in the center of the whirlpool galaxy. For years, scientists have directed telescope after telescope to different parts of the galaxy to try to discover what it holds. Scientists finally built a telescope that was big enough and had enough power to be directed into the center of the whirlpool galaxy, and when they did, they had one chance to press a button that then would send a picture back to Earth. Look at the picture that was sent back to Earth...

If you look at the center of this picture, it looks like a cross. Again, this isn't proving that God is real, but it was a revelation for me that He is everywhere.

Jesus sees and fully knows the craters we are afraid to show the world. In the deepest, darkest part of our struggles, our shame, Jesus is there. In the darkest part of our craters, we are reminded of the power of the gospel, the power of the cross. I hope that you never forget that through everything, it's always Jesus who heals, creates, mends, and loves.

Take a moment and think about a crater in your life, a situation that feels like it is engulfing you time and time again. Now think about the dark hole in the whirlpool galaxy. Can you imagine your personal crater as that dark hold? Can you also consider that, like the telescope image of the cross, God is in that dark hole with you offering the power of the cross. Those things that make us feel so lonely, He is in the middle, we just have to look for Him.

I have previously shared about eh moon and there is one thing I think is really important. The moon goes through different cycles, throughout the cycle, the amount of moon we see from Earth changes. Depending on how close to the sun the moon is, determines the amount of light that it absorbs. The moon cannot generate its own light, it relies fully on absorbing the light that the sun emits. How close the moon is to the sun is how much light the moon is able to reflect. This is the same in our lives as well. The more time we spend getting to know God and spending time with Him, the more that we are going to shine to the people around us.

This series has helped me to look at creation in a different light, not to see myself and mankind as inferior, but to view God as extraordinary to write us into His incredible story. Now, our job is to share with the world what His love did for us when He gave His one and only son to die for us on a cross, when we didn't deserve a thing.
